. Items below may differ depending on the release. Review Voodoo has all the elements that make a D'Angelo release so memorable: slightly snarling, falsetto vocals, self-harmonizing, slippery keyboards and seductive grooves. But unlike Brown Sugar, Voodoo tends to drown in its own funk, sacrificing hooks for ambiance. The album still works, but the songs tend to run together. 'Arguably the greatest 'neo-soul' artist aside from maybe Frank Ocean, D'Angelo ran with the 'quality over quantity' ideal quite literally in his quite sparse and concise discography and has largely paid off given how great his three albums and every song on them are.

Voodoo DJ Soul Essentials consists of three tracks taken off of the Voodoo album 'Chicken Grease', 'Feel Like Makin' Love', and 'Spanish Joint' in their original versions (on the A-side), as well as instrumental versions (on the B-side).[1][2] The cover art for the album was originally featured in the Voodoo album liner notes.
